- Outlines how to connect to an ArcIMS Server using ArcCatalog. Connecting to ArcIMS servers alllows fast access to large quantities of file-based imagery with the ability of setting the symbology and identifying each layer's information. This technology does not replace vector data as it is slower and less efficient. Note, this document is relevant to NT Government users only.

- This course is for people who use GPS in the field to collect information that is then used in a GIS. This course will tell you about the do’s and don’ts of using a GPS from the experts in the Surveyor General’s Office. This course will show you some of the latest hardware and software, being used by leading Territory Field Scientists, to collect information and its location in a field situation. The course is designed to provide: • basic understanding of GPS usage including Projections and Datums. •An understanding of how to correctly collect GPS data in the field for use in GIS •The latest Hardware and Software demonstrated by Field Scientists The cost for SSI members is $80 and $250 for non-members. The course will be held at Survey House, Shepherd St, Darwin. The Course will supply morning/afternoon tea and lunch but you must your own GPS device for the hands-on session with staff from the Surveyor General's Office. Please RSVP by Frday 6th June 2008.
