Creating a ProjectWise Explorer document
Create a document within ProjectWise Explorer for use in updating Oracle features or producing maps using Bentley Map
Open ProjectWise Explorer and connect to the environment.
In the explorer pane, right click the document folder for the coordinate system you are working in.
Select Spatial Database >Advanced Spatial Connection. The New Spatial Database Connection dialogue will display
Type in a suitable name for your document then select the Operations tab
choose the options as in the example then select the Spatial Database tab
Leave all options as they appear but use the dropdown to select the coordinate system for your document. Select the Features tab
You can select any of the features to appear automatically each time you open the document. We will only choose the BENTLEY_MAP_BLANK under the Read Only Features item. This will ensure that you have a reference to work with when you open Microstation via Bentley Map. For LatLong_GDA94, select Read Only Features > Reference_Map.
Select the Spatial tab and choose the coordinate system from the drop down menu
Now click the Create button and wait for the document to appear as 'Checked in'
Note if the Create button is not active, one of the previous steps has been skipped.
Once the document is 'checked in' double click on it to start a Bentley Map session using this document
Notes/Troubleshoot on creating documents
A new document is created based on what coordinate system the user plans to work with. If a user plans on editing/reading data in Latitude/Longitudes ( i.e whole of Territory), then the document should be created in the folder LLGDA94. If the user plans to edit/read data in MGA_Zone 52 or Zone 53 ( i.e Darwin Region or Alice Springs Region), then the document should be created in the MGA_Zone_52_53 folder.
Upon opening the newly created documents in Bentley Map - if you receive a red circle with a diagonal strike through it ( like the non smoking sign), then the document has not been created properly. This could be because a feature type was incorrectly ticked or a setting is incorrect. Delete the errorneous documents and recreate them
In "New Spatial Database Connection > Spatial Database" tab, there is a section called "Versioning". If "Live" is not listed as the Version, click the Refresh Version List button to refresh the drop down list. If "Live" does not appear ( it is blank), contact GIS Support immediately.
