Using Map Manager in Bentley Map

How to make use of the Map Manager feature in Bentley map to view Oracle feature attributes as labels in Microstation

Open up a document with ProjectWise explorer

Enter details into the Oracle Connect dialogue box

The user and password will be different for development and production.

 

Open the Interoperability dialogue box and select the features you wish to edit then download (Query) using the spatial toolbox

Use the reference map to confine the query to your area of interest (View)

Your requested features will be displayed in the default view

  • Open the Map Manager dialogue box from the File menu.
  • If there are no existing map models attached to this DGN you will be prompted to create a new model

  • Use the default or name your own model and enter. This will activate the Map Manager panel and put the model as the active model.

  • The original DGN is blank and becomes a reference file.

Press OK and the features you queried previously will appear in the Active Map Layers

  • Right click on the feature you require labeled
  • Select Labeling and choose the Thematic Labeling Style
  • Any attribute can be used to label your features. Select by left clicking and where options are available a drop down will appear
  • Multiple selections can be made using [ ] [ ] brackets eg [ROAD_NAME] [ROAD_TYPE]

Query the database again and your Features will appear with labels

  • If you need to edit these features ensure they are Active for Edit
  • You can start an explicit edit session within the current design session by right clicking a feature in the Map Manager and selecting Make Active for Edit 
  • To stop editing right click the feature and select Stop Editing.
  • Once you have completed your edits  Post and merge as usual.

Note Map Manager does not allow labeling of Cells.
