Using the help for Microstation V8i

by dinkdink last modified Sep 28, 2009 10:25 AM

Due to the modularity of the Microstation V8i architecture, help files are not stored comprehensively in the same location. This page provides a few hinnts on where to search for various functionality in Microstation V8i.

the Microstation V8i architecture deployed in the DPI's common spatial platform covers a number of interconnected yet independant software applications.  Because of this, help files are not stored comprehensively in the same location and must be accessed independantly.

Below provides the startpoints for searching on help for these independant applications.

Microstation V8i Client applications

  1. Microstation V8i - help for this can be found through the expected location, the 'Help' drop down menu in the menu bar of the application
  2. Bentley Map V8i - Bentley map opens on top of the standard Microstation V8i application, help for this is NOT found in the 'Help>Contents' Item on the help menu of the application.  Instead select 'Help > Map contents'.  Alternatively you can find it by going to the windows start menu: start>All Programs>Bentley>Bentley Map V8i >Documentation>Bentley Map V8i help.
  3. ProjectWise Explorer V8i - Help can be found at the expected location, through the 'Help' drop down menu in the menu bar of the application, it can also be found through the windows start menu: Start>All Programs>Bentley ProjectWise V8i>Documentation>Projectwise Explorer Guide.
  4. Projectwise Geospatial Explorer V8i & ProjectWise Oracle Connector - like bentley map is to microstation, these are extension applications for the ProjectWise Explorer, and their help is not accessed through the projectWise Explorer application interface.  Find this documentation via the windows start menu: Start>All Programs>Bentley ProjectWise V8i>Documentation>
