Biodiversity values across the study area include sensitive and/or significant vegetation communities - many of which are considered potential groundwater-dependent ecosystems (GDEs) - and threatened and significant flora and fauna. These values were identified and assessed to derive Risk to Biodiversity classes, which were mapped across the study area. Produced as part of the biodiversity assessment for the Mapping the Future project of the Katherine area. The biodiversity assessment study area covers approximately 98,726 ha and is located 317 km south-east of Darwin. This information is part of the Mapping the Future project of the Katherine area. The project has identified land capability, water availability and biodiversity values to support land planning and inform development potential in the Katherine area.
