Description

Abstract:

Three trap grids comprise the data set. The purpose of them is to detect pest fruit fly species. They are:

1. Port of Entry Grid. Three lure types are used in the grid. They are Methyl Eugenol (ME), Cue, Capilure (Med). Traps are located within the Darwin, Alice Springs and Gove town areas on a 5-kilometre grid. The purpose of the grid is to detect exotic
fruit fly incursions.

2. Northern Territory (NT) part of the national ME grid. Traps are spaced at densities that vary across the Territory. Density is highest in built-up areas and next highest in areas of horticultural production. Surveillance for Oriental Fruit Fly Group of major pest species.

3. NT surveillance grid comprising Cue and Med traps. Detect various pest fruit fly species present in other states, but not the NT.

Data Quality

Lineage:Traps were originally sited in late 1995. Their location was recorded with a global positioning system (GPS) receiver with differential correction.

Positional Accuracy:In some instances recordings are an approximation of actual location.10 metres.

Attribute Accuracy:High

Logical Consistency:Only points compose the data set, so logical consistency is not relevant.

Completeness:Complete.
