The tiles are generally 6 degrees in longitude and 4 degrees in latitude. The elevation points in this products are at an interval of 9 seconds of longitude and 9 seconds of latitude. Access available only to eights tiles cover the entire Northern Territory and partly covers WA and SA from th NT border.The data are subject to Commonwealth of Australia Copyright. This generalisation results in a grid which can be considered as having a resolution between 1:250 000 and 1:500 000 scale. The accuracy of the elevation value can be considered as being continuosly variable across the gridded area; average slope within a cell having the greatestinfluence. Theoretical considerations indicate a possible worst case of standard error of 35m and a maximum error of 90m when slope is 50%.0not knownNot Relevant0The DEM was derived using the following AUSLIG data: - GEODATA TOPO-250K Relief theme which consists of more than 5 million spot elevations taken from contours or observed during 1:100 000 scale map production. (These points have an RMS of less than 10metres.) - GEODATA TOPO-250K Hydrography theme. Watercourses and waterbodies from 1:250 000 scale mapping. Watercourses were flipped so that the sequence of points run in the direction of flow. - Coastline derived from 1:250 000 scale mapping. AGSO provided elevation data from its national gravimetric database and its airborne geophysical surveys. The DEM was created using the ANUDEM algorithm developed by Dr Mike Hutchinson of the Australian National University. As well as using elevation data the program uses watercourses and large waterbodies to enforce hydrological accuracy, ie sinks which are often a problem in DEMs have been resolved by forcing drainage where possible.
