Description
This dataset defines areas that have had restrictions or conditions imposed as to the usage of, or entry to, areas which are sacred to, or hold great importance to the Aboriginal Custodians.

This dataset defines areas that have had restrictions or conditions imposed as to the usage of, or entry to, areas which are sacred to, or hold great importance to the Aboriginal Custodians.
These areas are called Restricted Work Areas (RWA)
The RWA boundaries have been derived from information contained in Aboriginal Areas Protection Authority certificates and reports.
The spatial information portrayed in AAPA reports and certificates has been recorded over many years and captured using a variety of methods by many different people.
Positional Accuracy:The positional accuracy of this dataset will vary depending on the method used to capture the data.
These methods range from an RWA digitised from a scanned and rectified sketch map to an RWA created using AMG coordinates provided in the certificates or reports. These coordinates may have been defined using a variety of methods ranging from the use of handheld GPS through to arbitrary assignment.
Attribute Accuracy:This dataset contains a series of attributes including:
- Certificate Number: AAPA Certificate Number
- Site Number: AAPA Sacred Site Number
- Eastings
- Northings
- Restrictions: the restrictions applying to the RWA boundary determined from the Certificate.
- Comments
- Anomalies: Anomaly found when entering RWA
- Anomaly_Reason: Reason for anomaly determined after researching AAPA reports.
- Sites_verified_by: methods used to varify site referred to by RWA
- Report_checked: Boolean value as to whether AAPA report was physically checked.
-Boundary_Position: Status of boundary position.
The accuracy of the attribute information is accurate in relation to the Authority Certificate
Logical Consistency:All polygons are closed.
All polygons contain attributes
RWA should always be considered in context with the Authority Certificate
Completeness:This dataset is continuous and will never be complete.
