Description
REALM (Regional Ecosystems and Landscaping Mapping) dataset describes the REALM level 1 (ecological) regions of the Northern Territory; it is based on regional geomorphology with the intention to incorporate additional ecological themes as part of its further development. This spatial dataset should not be used at a scale greater than 1:50,000.
The dataset was derived by digitising regional boundaries interpreted on Basemap World Imagery and Google Earth; legacy land system mapping boundaries still remain some northern areas pending completion of updated digitising.
The REALM Level 1-regions are equivalent to the other broad biogeographical regional stratification across the Australia.

Data Quality
Lineage:The regional boundaries in the northern part of the Northern Territory have been interpreted from legacy land system mapping at 1:250 000. Elsewhere the boundaries have been digitised at a scale of 1:5 000 to 1: 10 000 using BaseMap World Imagery and Google Earth.
Positional Accuracy:POLYGON DATA
Data stored in geographic coordinates using horizontal datum GDA94. The polygon boundary for each zone is combined and updated into a Northern Territory dataset using an ESRI ArcGIS Pro file geodatabase. Updated region boundaries are digitised on screen directly from Base Map World Imagery and Google Earth at a scale of 1:5 000 to 1: 10 000.
Attribute Accuracy:All polygons attributed using the data dictionary as described below.
Logical Consistency:All polygons are closed and labelled using the prescribed data dictionary.
