Biodiversity values across the study area include sensitive and/or significant vegetation communities and threatened and significant flora and fauna. These values were identified and assessed to derive Risk to Biodiversity classes, which were mapped across the study area.

Further details on the biodiversity assessment are provided in the report listed in Supplementary Information.

Note: A polyline spatial dataset delineating mapped streams in the biodiversity assessment study area should be used in conjunction with this polygon data (http://www.ntlis.nt.gov.au/metadata/export_data?type=html&metadata_id=41A504E31CB31D6BE0632144CD9B1547 ). The polyline data identifies complex or large systems of palustrine wetlands, such as those associated with the Roper River and tributaries, considered areas of sensitive and or significant biodiversity (Class 4); and perennial reaches of the Roper River and tributaries that provide suitable habitat for threatened species including the Largetooth Sawfish (Pristis pristis) and Gulf Snapping Turtle (Elseya lavarackorum), considered to have high biodiversity value (Class 5).

Produced as part of the biodiversity assessment for the Mapping the Future project of the central Roper River catchment area.
The biodiversity assessment study area covers approximately 1,725,000 ha and extends from south-west of the township of Mataranka to the edge of the Limmen National Park and Arnhem Land Aboriginal Land Trust in the east.</gco:CharacterString></gmd:abstract><gmd:resourceMaintenance><gmd:MD_MaintenanceInformation><gmd:maintenanceAndUpdateFrequency><gmd:MD_MaintenanceFrequencyCode codeList="http://www.isotc211.org/resources/codeList?MD_MaintenanceFrequencyCode" codeListValue="notPlanned"/></gmd:maintenanceAndUpdateFrequency></gmd:MD_MaintenanceInformation></gmd:resourceMaintenance><gmd:resourceConstraints><gmd:MD_LegalConstraints><gmd:useLimitation><gco:CharacterString>Links to download reports, maps and spatial datasets are noted in the Development Opportunities website. depws.nt.gov.au/DevelopmentOpportunities
