Complex or large systems of palustrine wetlands, such as those associated with the Roper River and tributaries, are considered areas of sensitive and or significant biodiversity. Perennial reaches of the Roper River and tributaries that provide suitable habitat for threatened species including the Largetooth Sawfish (Pristis pristis) and Gulf Snapping Turtle (Elseya lavarackorum) are considered to have high biodiversity value and disturbance of these areas should be avoided. Produced as part of the biodiversity assessment for the Mapping the Future project of the central Roper River catchment area. The biodiversity assessment study area covers approximately 1,725,000 ha and extends from south-west of the township of Mataranka to the edge of the Limmen National Park and Arnhem Land Aboriginal Land Trust in the east. ESRI ArcGIS Pro v3.3 was used to clip the data to the study area, and only Major and Minor drainage lines were retained using the following queries: MAJOR: Hierarchy = 'Major' MINOR: Name IS NOT NULL and Name <> ' ' AND Hierarchy = 'Minor' Geofabric attributes are described in the Product Guide: www.bom.gov.au/water/geofabric/documentation.shtml All attributes, other than Name and Hierarchy, were removed from the dataset.
