This dataset is a spatial index of available (open file) mineral exploration reports and data. Exploration licences (EL's) and other mineral titles are included if any reports for that title are open file. Title polygons represent the boundaries on the date the mineral title was initially granted (Grant Effective/Start Date). Generally only the first annual report and the final report of an EL cover the entire initial granted title area. Second and subsequent annual reports, partial relinquishment reports and renewal reports usually cover only part of the initial granted area. Drilling, surface sampling and geophysical survey datasets submitted with the reports may be partially or completely duplicated during the title reporting lifecycle. All available reports from ceased or historical titles and some reports from current titles that are older than 5 years are included. Additional reports are added as they are released. Mineral exploration licences are granted in one minute graticular blocks. Mining tenements are plotted from descriptions supplied by tenement holders. Previously reports from historical titles only were accessible through the Historical Mineral Titles layer.
