This information is intended to support the development of the proposed Weddell townsite area and surrounds. In 2020, vegetation communities for the Middle Arm Peninsula, west of Weddell, were appended to the original dataset. This includes new survey work as well as existing mangrove mapping. Attribute values, as described in the Data Dictionary below, have been added to each polygon.0Version 1.0 data for the proposed new township of Weddell was compiled in 2011 for NTG use. In July 2020, the data was made available for public access, including the associated technical report (Cuff and Brocklehurst, 2011). Map unit boundaries were derived from a number of remotely sensed data sources using both statistical analysis and manual interpretation methods, including: 1. Stereoscopic interpretation of high resolution hardcopy aerial photography; 2. On-screen interpretation of contemporary high resolution digital aerial photography; 3. Manual interpretation and statistical analysis of Worldview 2 multi-spectral satellite imagery Version 2 published 21/04/2021: Additional field survey and mapping was conducted in 2018/19 on the remaining areas of the Middle Arm Peninsula to the west of the original survey boundary. This utilised an approach and classification framework consistent with the original survey with the addition of more recent NTLIS program ortho-imagery to aid the interpretation of vegetation patterns.
