Description

Abstract:

This Stygofauna Baseline assessment was focused on stygofauna (aquatic groundwater fauna) as part of the aquatic ecosystem baseline studies that the NT Government is completing for the broader SREBA Beetaloo program. A field survey was completed for two phases of stygofauna in October 2021 and May 2022. A total of 66 groundwater bores were sampled, with the sites selected to obtain spatial coverage across the study area and to stratify sampling by the hydrogeological formations present. The data contains stygofauna survey area, sampling for Phase 1 and 2 and results.

Data Quality

Lineage:Bore descriptions & details were sourced from Bores sites in the Northern Territory dataset (https://www.ntlis.nt.gov.au/metadata/export_data?metadata_id=2DBCB7711FC106B6E040CD9B0F274EFE&type=html). Field inspections were undertaken to determine suitable subset to use for sampling.

Positional Accuracy: Bore positional accuracy is based on the Bores sites in the Northern Territory dataset (https://www.ntlis.nt.gov.au/metadata/export_data?metadata_id=2DBCB7711FC106B6E040CD9B0F274EFE&type=html). Lat/long positions using GPS were collected in the field to verify bore locations matched the named sites.

Attribute Accuracy:The accuracy of the sites attribute information is considered high and conforms to the Department standard at time of capture.

Logical Consistency:Point data review was completed for all sites IDs to remove any naming anomalies. All sampling sites and record locations were checked to ensure they match the position recorded in the NT's bore database removing any spatial anomalies.

Completeness:The spatial data is complete and reflective of the point in time the SREBA Stygofauna baseline assessment was undertaken
