Abstract:

This dataset provides summary borehole information from water bores, petroleum and mineral exploration bores. This information was used for many purposes including constructing elevation and thickness maps of key formations, and water elevation and depth maps.

Data Quality

Lineage:The dataset was compiled by Water Resources Division (DEPWS NTG) from DEPWS bore database and DITT bore database.

Positional Accuracy:Before 1995 - the positional accuracy of sites is deemed low with with a standard deviation of +/- 300 - 10 000 metres. A poor positional accuracy resulted from inconsistencies with the collection/storage of positional data and original mapping formats. Some of locational accuracy of these sites is being upgraded from poor to high wiht the the use of GPS.

Attribute Accuracy:The accuracy of the sites attribute information is considered high and conforms to the Department standard at time of capture.

Logical Consistency:Data values of [999] is used where no data is available.
