Description
The Bukalara Extent shapefile provides a projection of the known areal extent of the Bukalara Sandstone formation within the Beetaloo Sub-basin extended SREBA Water Studies region. It has been developed using a combination of lithological descriptions from bore completion reports and petroleum well completion reports from the last 30 years. While it is likely the formation extends across a much broader area than depicted, confirmation would be required through further field-based investigations.

Data Quality
Lineage:The dataset was developed by projecting the known spatial extent of Bukalara Sandstone formation interceptions encountered in drilled petroleum and water bores across the Beetaloo Sub-basin extended SREBA Water Studies region. Bore completion reports are available via NR Maps and petroleum well completion reports via Geoscience Australia's GEMIS portal. Lithological descriptions have been correlated with other geophysical data (i.e. gamma logs) and stratigraphic interpretations to aid with formation identification. A 10km buffer has then been placed around each identified interception, except within the actual Beetaloo Sub-basin region in which it the formation is assumed to be regionally extensive.
Positional Accuracy:The dataset represents the minimum known spatial extent of the formation with the extended SREBA Water Studies region meaning its positional accuracy is a conservative estimate, with the formation likely extending far beyond which is presented.
Attribute Accuracy:The attribute information conforms to a standard SREBA Groundwater template. The template ensures consistent information is recorded and displayed on any platform.
Logical Consistency:Data of similar type have the same attribute structure. The dataset contains known topology such as overlaps, gaps and pseudo notes which will be addressed in future update.
Completeness:Complete
