Description

Abstract:

The Water Types dataset provides an interpretation of the general groundwater types (or groundwater facies) for samples taken from bores across the Beetaloo Sub-basin extended SREBA Water Studies region. Its classifications have been assigned based on the predominant major ions present in groundwater samples after they have been projected onto a Piper Plot diagram.

Data Quality

Lineage:The dataset was produced from water quality laboratory analyses undertaken from bore water samples taken from within the extended SREBA Water Studies region over the last 80 years (data available via NR Maps and the NTG Aquarius Water Quality Database). Major ions (Ca, Mg, Na, K, Cl, HCO3, SO4) have been plotted on a Piper Plot diagram with groundwater facies inferred from the resulting proportions of major anions and cations. Sample locations have been projected using the geographic coordinate system Geocentric Datum of Australia 1994.

Positional Accuracy:Positional accuracy of each data point will be restricted to the method of geographic positioning system, and potential error margins of each device used, at the time of sampling and / or bore completion.

Attribute Accuracy:The attribute information conforms to a standard SREBA Groundwater template. The template ensures consistent information is recorded and displayed on any platform.

Logical Consistency:Data of similar type have the same attribute structure.

Completeness:Complete
