Description
The False Colour image is one of 16 products derived from the Japanese ASTER (Advanced Spacebourne Thermal Emission and Reflectance Radiometer) system.
Base Algorithm: Red: Band 3 - Green: Band 2 - Blue: B1 (red = green vegetation),
Suggested use: Use this image to help understand non-geological differences within and between ASTER scenes caused by green vegetation (red), fire scars, thin and thick cloud and cloud shadows.
Images on the Image Web Server based on single grids are provided in colour and greyscale, with the expectation that users looking at the grids in broad scale will prefer the colour image, but for close-up work will often prefer greyscale for better visual resolution and reduced colour confusion.
When a set of three grids is presented in RGB, close-up work is instead facilitated by equalising the colour scale, thus maximising colour resolution at close-up. Thus the Regolith_ratios and False_colour images have an equalised version instead of a greyscale.
Aster images on the Geophysical Image Web Server have been re-imaged from grids created by CSIRO. For full technical details, refer to the "NT ASTER Geoscience Product Notes" below.
