Abstract:

This is a compilation of polygon datasets defining the spatial extents of protected land declared under the Northern Territory Soil Conservation and Land Utilization Act deemed to be subject to soil erosion. The boundary for each area is noted in a Northern Territory Gazettal and may be described as an Erosion Hazard Area or a Restricted Use Area.

Data Quality

Lineage:The boundary of each land area was created using description in the associated Northern Territory Government Gazettal notice.

Positional Accuracy:These spatial datasets have polygon geometry. Line work was drawn in accordance with the NT Gazettal notice. For example; vertices and lines were snapped to road centerlines or cadastral boundaries where applicable.
Areas in hectares were calculated Albers Equal Area Conic projection (central meridian 133.5; standard parallels -12.666 and -23.333). The final dataset is stored in the department's spatial library in Geographics, datum GDA94.

Attribute Accuracy:Each polygon has descriptive details including the name and date details from the Northern Territory Government Gazettal Notice.

Logical Consistency:GIS editing tools were used to rectify all overshoots and undershoots in line work. Each polygon is single part and will have a label.
