Description

Abstract:

The Darwin Area storm surge dataset with an update to the Rapid Creek area using a 5 metre cell size DEM created in 2015. Consist of 4 spatial layers modelling the extent of land subject to coastal inundation due to projected sea level in 2100.

Data Quality

Lineage:In 2013, the Northern Territory Department of Lands, Planning and Environment (DLPE) engaged GHD to update the storm tide mapping for the 100, 1000 and 10,000 year events using the 5 metres cell size Digital Elevation Model. The results from the 2013/2014 NT storm tide mapping update were used as input for the Rapid Creek remapping.

Positional Accuracy:The Darwin Area storm surge dataset has been computed from Tuflow inundation model. The input into the model vary in spatial accuracy and time scale. The inferred scale of use is 1: 25,000.

Attribute Accuracy:

Logical Consistency:The dataset is composed of polygon features that represent areas of potential inundation due to predicted sea level rise and storm tides. Data layers are seamless across their extent. Data layers have been visually checked to detect and remove data inconsistencies that may exist due to modelling or generalisation processing.
