Title: Gamma Log Areas in the Northern Territory

Citation Date:2020-10-09

Date Type:publication

Custodian:Department of Environment, Parks and Water Security

Description

Abstract:

Bores drilled in these areas are required to have a gamma log run before the slotted casing/screens are installed. The gamma log is required to be submitted with the Statement of Bore.

The purpose is to identify the contact between the Jinduckin and Tindall aquifers in the Daly Basin (northern area) and their equivalents, the Anthony Lagoon and Gum Ridge aquifers in the Georgina Basin (southern area). These aquifers are required to be separated as described in the Minimum Construction Requirements for Water Bores in Australia. The department can be available, by prior arrangement, to confirm gamma log interpretations.

The Gamma Log Areas may be viewed using NR Maps. https://nrmaps.nt.gov.au/nrmaps.html (cannot use a mobile device)
Open folder Water > Bores > Drilling Requirements > tick the layer Gamma Log Areas to view on the map screen.
