Description

Abstract:

A groundwater resource investigation has been undertaken in the Wadeye Area as part of the Mapping the Future project 2018-2022 to inform land use and water resource planning. The groundwater assessment component of the project has provided baseline knowledge on aquifer parameters essential to the planning of any horticultural development.

An analysis was undertaken to produce a map delineating the level of groundwater resource risk associated with development. The study has been divided into four levels of risk (Low, Minor, Moderate or High), taking into consideration the risk criteria of electrical conductivity, aquifer thickness and depth below surface to productive aquifer.

Data Quality

Lineage:Through the investigation drilling process, point data on the three risk criteria (groundwater quality, aquifer thickness and depth to groundwater) were obtained. Through linear interpolation between these data points, contour lines were drawn for each risk criteria producing three maps. The three risk criteria maps were then overlaid to determine the extent of each of the four risk classes (Low, Minor, Moderate or High).

Positional Accuracy:Positional accuracy of 250 metres from bore locations

Attribute Accuracy:Refer to Data Dictionary in this metadata record.

Logical Consistency:GIS editing tools were used to rectify all overshoots and undershoots in line work. Polygon topology rules applied are; must not overlap, must not have gaps and each polygon has only one label.

Completeness:Complete
