Description

Abstract:

Compilation of polygon spatial datasets describing Water Resource Surveys over the Northern Territory. Each water resource survey is represented by a single polygon covering the extent of the survey. This compilation dataset is regularly updated when new land resource surveys are completed or existing surveys amended.

Each record contains descriptive details about the survey including; name, scale, date, weblinks to metadata and report (if available). Refer to the Data Dictionary for further descriptions.

DOWNLOAD SPATIAL DATA PACKAGE VIA NRMAPS. (enter nrmaps.nt.gov.au in a browser)
A web-link under the heading DOWNLOAD provides users with a package of information about the survey. This includes spatial data in an ESRI format (GDB and also shapefile), reports, maps and other related information. CAUTION: The spatial data package may be very large.

Data Quality

Lineage:The extent, or boundary, of each water resource survey is created by dissolving the survey polygons using the survey Identification field. Additionally, surveys with more than one boundary (e.g. survey covering the whole of the Northern Territory mainland and islands) have been aggregated so that each survey will only have a single record. All the water survey boundaries have been merged into a single dataset over the NT. The survey polygons may overlap over each other due to the survey location.

Positional Accuracy:For most of the survey the positional accuracy of the polygon is based on cadastre information of the Northern Territory.

Attribute Accuracy:The attributes of the survey boundary polygon are described in the Data Dictionary below.

Logical Consistency:GIS editing tools were used to rectify all overshoots and undershoots in polygon line-work. Topological consistency checks were performed to detect flaws in the spatial data structure and to ensure that all classified polygons are closed, nodes are formed at intersections of lines and that each polygon has only one label. Polygons overlap in this compilation dataset.

Completeness:This dataset is on-going and is regularly updated.
