| History/Origin | The Hot Springs are named after the river into which they flow and form part of. The Hot Springs in 1898 is believed to be one of the first 2 conservation areas set aside by the SA Government. When Pastoral Permit 159 was issued in 1901 to William Joseph Byrnes, it excluded an area for the "Hot Springs", branded a "Reserve". In 1915, after the Commonwealth took over the Territory, survey groups were brought in to carry out basic surveys which identified the main features and streams. Among these groups were AA Briggs, WE Bliss and AL Merrotsy whop carried out a seriesd of tasks in the area in 1914 and 1915. Bliss plan (Diagram 169) shows the "Hot Springs" and pool in detail. |
