History/Origin The area around where Goodparla Station was situated, was originally held by George Richard Cooke under Pastoral Permit 270. In 1910, Cooke successfully applied for a Pastoral Lease over Block 10, Alligator River District and was issued PL 2375 which he called Goodparla Station.

Between 1925 and 1930 pastoral plans of the station bore the name "Goodparla" or "Gerowie" with Goodparla prevailing.

On 29 June 1978 the Commonwealth aquired the property and added it to Kakadu National Park (Stage 3) in April 1984.

The origin of the name Goodparla is not known.
