History/Origin A dam was constructed by George and Ken Bennett in 1980, having purchased the land in July 1979.

The Dam and the water behind the earthen wall (Lake Bennett) is used as a tourist/ Darwin Day trippers camping ground. The land around the foreshore has been subdivided and weekenders built.
