| History/Origin |
This Hundred is situated south east of Darwin, but west of the Adelaide River. It was named after Captain Frederick Howard after whom the Howard River was also named. He was later in 1865/66 to command the HMS "Beatrice" which took part in the initial surveys at Escape Cliffs/Adam Bay under Col. Boyle Travers Finniss. This Hundred was one of the first thirteen gazetted in the NT in 1871. |
