| History/Origin | Sanderson High School is located in Malak, a suburb within the cadastral Town of Sanderson in Darwin's northern suburbs. The school opened in 1985 and was reclassified as a middle school in 2008. The name Sanderson derives from the former Hundred of Sanderson, proclaimed in 1879, and was retained when the area was formally designated the Town of Sanderson in 1972. The name commemorates Frederick James Sanderson (c1834-1903), a senior public servant whose career spanned several decades within South Australia's colonial administration. |
