The school originally opened as Dripstone High School in 1980. From 2006, the school transitioned to a middle school providing education for Years 7 to 9 and was renamed Dripstone Middle School in 2008.

In 2026, the school again provided senior secondary education and the name changed to Dripstone Secondary College.
