History/Origin Named after Sister Annunciata Dew-White, one of three foundation members to arrive at Garden Point Mission, Melville Island on 25 June 1941. Sister Annunciata was in charge of the girls at the Mission from 1941 - 1958.

Sister Annunciata assisted in the evacuation of children from Melville Island to Darwin during WWII. From Darwin they were evacuated to South Australia. In 1945 they were able to return to Melville Island.

Sister Annunciata was affectionately known as 'Arta' and also worked in Darwin teaching music for a number of years.

The theme, Top End Catholic Priests and Religious, was selected through consultation with Larrakia Development Corporation.
