History/Origin Rosebery Secondary School takes its name from the suburb in which it is located, which is itself named after Archibald Philip Primrose, 5th Earl of Rosebery (1847-1929), a British aristocrat and statesman.

The school opened in 2011 as Rosebery Middle School and was amalgamated with Palmerston Senior College in 2018 to form the newly named Palmerston College.
