History/Origin	Named after Saint Mary Mackillop, who was canonised as Saint Mary of the Cross on 17 October 2010. She was the first member and Superior of the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart, a religious society dedicated to educating poor children. She worked to establish schools, convents and charitable institutions. Mary MacKillop College is also named after her.
