History/Origin In commemoration of the De La Cruz family, who have resided in Darwin since 1915. Their contribution to the Northern Territory is displayed in such fields as sports, music and many years of committed service in the workforce.

Deceased members of the De La Cruz family being commemorated include Lopez De La Cruz, who was a Fisherman and Pearl Diver in the Northern Territory, John De La Cruz, who was a butcher and Darwin Buffaloes supporter, Philomeno James De La Cruz, who was a Pearl Diver and a member of the Assemblies of God Church Band and Ken De La Cruz who was a long term Public Servant and a member of the Northern Territory Amateur Boxing Association, Rugby League Judiciary and the Danila Dilba Board.
