| History/Origin | Named after Rachel Lemke, who arrived in Darwin from Toowoomba in the early 1990s. Rachel completed a law degree at the Northern Territory University and joined Ward Keller as an Article Clerk. In 1996, she was admitted to the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory. Following her admission, she accepted an appointment as In-House Counsel for the Territory Insurance Office and remained in that position until her tragic and premature death in 2001. She also donated her time and legal expertise to help with several local causes, including the Katherine Floods in 1998. She was also a committed conservationist and wildlife carer |
