| History/Origin |
Named after Alex Warne, who was the President of the Australian Trucking Association - Northern Territory from 2004 to 2008 and an Executive Member of the Chartered Institute of Transport and Logistics - NT Section. He drove the first Finemore's roadtrain into the Northern Territory via the 'South Road' in 1979 and settled in Tennant Creek to work for Finemores and later Fadelli Transport Industries. He later moved to Darwin to continue his involvement with the road transport industry and in 1997 he and his wife Beryl formed a successful freight brokering business (AN & BJ Warne). He passed away on 11 October 2011 after a lifelong involvement in Australian trucking. |
