History/Origin Named after Alan Bridge, who was the first resident judge of the Northern Territory. He held that office between 1961 and 1979. He was the last resident judge to sit in the old Sydney Williams hut that served as the courthouse until the construction of the new courthouse on the corner of Mitchell and Herbert Streets (now demolished to make way for the Parliamentary Precinct).
