Named after Theos (Tom) Poeling-oer and Catherine Anne Poeling-oer (nee Outram). Theos was born in Alor, Indonesia in 1912. He arrived in Darwin in November 1948, first living in Parap Camp, then at Westralia Street. He worked as a Pearl Diver for 18 months and later worked for 30 years with the Department of Works, Northern Territory Government. He was a keen sportsman and played for Buffaloes Football Club. He passed away in 1991. Catherine was born in Kempsey, New South Wales in 1913 and arrived in Darwin at the same time as her husband and raised their children. She passed away in 1988. |
