History/Origin Named after Ern Follington who was a former soldier in WWII, pilot and cattle pioneer who revolutionised the way cattle was mustered by being the first pilot to muster cattle with a helicopter in the Northern Territory. Ern first came to Darwin in 1945, where he was stationed prior to his deployment to New Guinea in WWII. During the 1950s he flew the survey plane for the aerial mapping of Rum Jungle and Mary Kathlene uranium mines. Ern continued to fly until he passed away in 1974.
