Named after Polly Nedey, a Malak Malak woman born in the1890s. Her name is the place name for Mount Litchfield, Daly River (Stone Curlew Dreaming). She was a close associate and friend of Alyandabu (Kungarakany, mother of McGuinness family). After the death of Garnwaduk in 1941, Polly Nedey with her family moved onto Marakai Station and married Alec Nunmarung (Marakai Alec) who was one of the last of the Limilngan group of the Mary River. |
