History/Origin Named after Francis Peter Tovey who started a panel beating business in Geranium Street. He went on to establish Darwin's first self-drive hire car business using rebuilt wrecked cars. He established a radiator repair business and was the first to sell caravans in Darwin. Peter built and raced motorcycles at Winnellie Showgrounds and later at Nightcliff, being Champion at least once. In 1968 he built the Floyd Court subdivision, in
Coconut Grove. Peter moved to Queensland and died there in
March 2008.
