History/Origin Named in commemoration of Private Charles Branson, who enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force in Darwin on 26 January 1917 at the age of 26. Private Branson died of wounds received on 1 October 1918 at St Quentin, France whilst with 41st Battalion. He was buried at the St Sever Cemetery Extension, France
