History/Origin |
Named after JACK (Senior) and RUBY RONEY. Ruby first came to the Territory in 1912 and lived with an uncle at Oenpelli. Jack was droving cattle between Wyndham and Katherine in the same period. The couple married and later managed stations in the Katherine district. They also had a peanut farm on the Katherine River and became well known for their social and fund raising activities in the Katherine area.Jack died in the 1930's. |
