History/Origin Named after the former Kormilda College, which is situated alongside the eastern end of the road.

Kormilda College, located in Berrimah, was established by the Commonwealth Government in 1967 as a hostel and boarding school for Aboriginal students from remote communities. The initial intake comprised 121 students from 27 different remote Northern Territory communities, missions, and stations.

In 1989, the Uniting Church and Anglican Church jointly assumed control of the college, transitioning it into an independent day and boarding school for students in Years 8 to 12. This period marked significant growth, with enrolments reaching 370 students by 1991, including 100 non-Indigenous students. The college continued to expand, and in 2015, it opened an Early Learning Centre and Primary School, bringing total enrolments to over 640 students from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Throughout its operation, Kormilda College maintained a strong focus on Aboriginal education, providing residential programs and support for Indigenous students from remote communities. In 2017, the college was acquired by Haileybury, a leading independent school based in Melbourne. The following year, it reopened as Haileybury Rendall School.
