History/Origin |
Named after Harry and Francis Haynes of Brocks Creek who held pastoral land east and south east of Adelaide River in the 1920's. Francis Cody first came to the Territory in the early 1900's. Following the death of her husband she married Tom Crush who was the Labour Representative for the Territory and who established the Federation Hotel at Brocks Creek. She later married Harry Haynes in 1916 and ran the Federation Hotel for over 30 years. She was forcibly evacuated from the area following the bombing of Darwin in 1942. She died in Sydney in 1945.Her husband died around 1950. |
