History/Origin After Lieutenant Horace Higgs, a Mounted Constable, who first came to the Territory around 1908. He enlisted in the 10th (South Australian) Infantry Battalian in 1916 and died in France in October 1917. During his period as a Mounted Constable in the Territory he served mainly at Roper Bar.
