History/Origin Langton Road is named after Henry Langton, a convict who served as clerk and overseer of convicts at Fort Wellington, Raffles Bay, Cobourg Peninsula. He was reportedly well regarded by the local Aboriginal people. Following the settlement's abandonment in 1829, Langton later left for King George Sound, Western Australia, with Commander Barker aboard the Amity in 1831.
