History/Origin Named after Jack Mulholland, a local Borroloola identity who died in 1982. Mulholland, ex Royal Navy was a grader driver in the Barkly area before settling in Borroloola following WWII. He took over the licence of the Tattersall's Hotel in 1945 following the death of Johnnie O'Shea in 1945. In the late 1950's, the hotel burnt down and Mulholland continued to live on the site, under the banyan tree until the mid 1970's when due to the growth of the town's population he went bush.
