| History/Origin | Named after Mr Edward W Price, SM, who was the Government Resident who welcomed the Parliamentary Party at old Palmerston in 1882. The District Council members and a host of supporters were marshalled on the beach as a welcome to the distinguished travellers. Mr. Price also conducted the Wesleyan Church Service in the absence of its Minister; the Wesleyan Church being the only church building in 1882. On 25 February 1875, Edward Price, whilst a Magistrate in Darwin, lost his wife, Minna, and five children when the SS Gothenburg sunk off the coast of Queensland. |
