History/Origin It is believed that the Range was named after Frank and Willliam Hann by John Ross during the exploration of the route of the Overland Telegraph Line in 1870/71.

WW Mills when surveying Section C of the line used "Hann's Range" in his report to Todd in December 1872 - also appearing in the summary report to the SA Parliamentary in 1873.

The range first appears on A Ringwood's 1874 "Plan of the OT Line".
