History/Origin |
Settlement Creek was named by George De Lautour's 1873 overland journey from Townsville, Queensland, to Port Darwin with 100 head of cattle, as it was where he sent two of his party back to Burketown as he considered them useless in the bush, according to an article published in the Northern Territory Times and Gazette, published on 20 March 1875. |
